The Lunar Eclipse on September 18th arrives in Pisces-Purva Bhadrapada, the nakshatra associated with fire and purging.

This is good symbolism for an eclipse, an event that signifies the end of one cycle before another starts with an obstacle cleared away. Though only a partial eclipse, this is a Full Moon, where the emotional lunar energy is at its height and people act more from instinct than rational ideas. Make sure to think your plans through and resist the urge to dive into a big commitment at this point, especially if there’s a potential sacrifice.

Eclipse days are intense and atmospheric, and a thought or concern that has played on your mind can blow up, or you feel tired and restless for no good reason. The sensitive Moon in Pisces sitting between karmic Saturn and shadowy Rahu can raise your anxiety to the point of obsession, or you receive a sharp reaction from a friend or family member. An element of fate surrounds a conversation or debate, and you may feel compelled to take drastic action over a problem, even when you know it is unwise.

This is not a good day for travelling, carrying out business, or signing on the line, and it’s advised to wait at least 24 hours before making a major move. Spiritual work is highly favoured, however, especially if you are directly under the eclipse’s path of visibility, and meditation and chanting give you many times their usual benefits. Purva Bhadrapada’s Shakti for ‘The Power of Spiritual Fire’ burns away old attachments and restrictions, and retreating into silence sees you drawing a line under the past.
