Although there are many breathwork techniques to do and often doing any one of them will keep the planets happy, here are three simple exercises you can do for Saturn and Rahu.

Moon is the planet that determines our mental strength and longevity and it rules the North West direction, which is ruled by Vayu, the God of Prana.

Moon’s association with Saturn and Rahu can often imbalance the Prana, “life force”, so the practice of breathwork is a good way to align with the planets when they are the influencing planet of the day or are influencing your chart.

These techniques are in aid of activating our inner power and can be performed with that intention.

The rituals on align27 app prompt you to perform Pranayama on days when you need it the most!

Nadi Shodhana Pranayama (alternate nostril breath)

Saturn represents discipline, hard work, purification, service, longevity, restriction, humility, meditation, concentration and spiritual teaching.

To put these qualities into action in whichever way you can and also show your willingness to put forth the effort by performing a breathing technique, called Pranayama (Yama means directing/housing), in particular Nadi Shodhana Pranayama.

You can do this when the Moon transits any Nakshatra (lunar mansion) which is ruled by Saturn, going over your natal Saturn or when Saturn is conjunct with any planet in the sky or in your own chart.

You can also do this when the New Moon (Amavasya) falls on Saturn-ruled Saturday, which is called Shani Amavasya. This is an excellent time to perform Saturn (Shani) remedies to prevent or counteract any of Saturn’s unfavorable effects on your life.

Strengthen your Saturn by making a 5 minute practice of Nadi Shodhana Pranayama part of your morning and evening routine.

HOW TO:

1. Find a comfortable surface to sit on that offers enough support to keep your spine erect. Sit with your legs crossed with your left palm resting on your left knee.

2. With your right hand, bring your thumb and ring finger to your face.

3. Using the right thumb, softly close the right nostril and inhale slowly through the left nostril. Then close your left nostril with your ring finger. Pause. And exhale slowly through the right nostril.

4. Staying in that position, inhale through the right nostril slowly. Then, close it with your thumb – pause – and exhale through the left nostril. Once your exhalation is complete, inhale through the left. Pause. Then close your left nostril with your index finger and exhale through your right nostril…

5. Repeat this pattern five to nine times, and then release the right hand to the right knee and ease back into normal breathing

Bhastrika (Bellows) Breath

Rahu can be strengthened by performing Bhastrika Pranayama or Bellows Breath, an energizing and cleansing breathing technique with many physical and mental benefits, as this technique comes under the domain of Rahu.

The technique balances the elements of the body and mind, to boost the immune system and hormone function, purify the blood, release toxins, purify incoming air to oxygenate the body, and induce a lasting tranquil state.

You can do this during Rahu’s hour, as Rahu rules the breath and mental work. Pranayama Breathing is a magical remedy for Rahu. While Rahu represents disorder, it also represents Vayu Tattva (air element) and Prana (breath or life force). So, when you perform Bhastrika Pranayama, you bring order to your breath, creating a subtle yet powerful effect that clears any obstacles from your life.

You can do this when the Moon transits any Nakshatra (lunar mansion) which is ruled by Rahu, going over your natal Rahu or when Rahu is conjunct with any planet in the sky or in your own chart.

HOW TO:

1. Sit in vajrasana (diamond posture) or sukhasana (cross-legged position). (Pranayama can be more effective in vajrasana as your spine is erect and the diaphragmatic movement is better.)

2. Make a fist and bend your elbows, placing your closed fist near your shoulders.

3. Inhale deeply as you raise your hands straight up towards the sky and open your fists.

4. Exhale slightly forcefully, bring your fists down next to your shoulders, bending your arms and close your fists.

5. Repeat this for a total of 20 times.

6. Relax with palms on your thighs.

7. Take a few normal breaths.

8. Continue for two more rounds.

 Brahmari (Bumble Bee)

Brahmari (Bumble Bee) Pranayama is a very effective anti-anxiety method and can help balance all aspects of life, as our breath affects the function of our entire body, mind, spirit connection.

You can do this during Saturn or Rahu hour and/or on Saturdays, as it is the day ruled by these two planets.

HOW TO:

1. Sit in a peaceful place in a comfortable position with your face held in a subtle smile (this helps release endorphins). It is best to face east to enhance the benefits.

2. While keeping your spine erect, relax the rest of your body as much as possible.

3. Now, close your ears with your thumbs, while placing your index fingers above the eyebrows and rest the next three fingers of both hands gently over the eyes.

4. Apply gentle pressure on the upper part of the nose with the middle finger.

5. Now, take a deep breath through both nostrils, chanting OM in your mind.

6. Then, exhale from both nostrils while making a buzzing or humming sound (like a bee!), letting the vibrations fill your whole face, head, and whole body, until you’re out of breath.

7. You can activate your third eye while you do this by focusing your eyes on the space between your eyebrows during the practice.

8. Repeat this technique until you feel relaxed.

You don’t need to work out when to do these breathing techniques yourself because we do this for you in the rituals section of align27 . It is configured to show you when to do the rituals according to your birth chart.
